For 47 years, Catholic Schools Week (CSW) has been a nation-wide celebration highlighting Catholic educationHere at Holy Spirit Catholic School, we honor and celebrate our community, parents, pastors, teachers and students all week long.

We started the week off on Sunday with a school-wide mass followed by Pastries with Parents in the school foyer.  The parents and students mingled with family friends and had a chance to visit their classrooms and teachers.

The week continued with a three-day Open House.  We welcomed newcomers to the school and showcased our students and our mission:  to provide excellence in education centered on the teachings of the Catholic faith.  On Monday, we also celebrated our community by making handmade appreciation and support cards for the parish and school staff, coaches, PTC and other church organizations.

On Tuesday, we invited all returning parents to come tour their child’s next grade classrooms and to bring a friend to showcase our wonderful school.  We ended the day with a Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A.

Wednesday was Pastor and Teacher Appreciation Day!  After our weekly school mass, the students and PTC presented Father Antonio & Father Miguel with gifts of appreciation, as well as, classroom-made thank you cards.  We also annouced our Teacher of the Year, Mr. Olmos, to the great delight of our students & faculty.  Holy Spirit’s generous PTC catered a wonderful lunch for the teachers and staff.

Thursday of CSW is a day that the 8th graders look forward to each year.  We celebrate our future by allowing the 8th graders to take over the school.  The students became the principal, coaches, librarian, teachers, and receptionist.  This annual tradition is always a fun day at Holy Spirit!

To top off the week, on Friday, we had our student’s favorite day of the year, “Student Appreciation Day”!  The students had a day of fun: School-wide Bingo, middle school social hour, fake snow to play in, ice cream treats and so much more!  This year, the students ended the day in the gym for the Annual Fund incentive reward: Duct-taping four teachers to the wall, including Mrs. Webb, our principal.  It was something the students had never done before, and they sure did enjoy it!

CSW is a time to remember and celebrate why parents send their children to Holy Spirit Catholic School:  the community, Catholic education and the school’s rich traditions. We invite you to visit Holy Spirit next year during Catholic Schools Week to enjoy the celebration and open houses!
